Following a £2 million investment from the iconic fish and chip shop brand Harry Ramsden’s, work is already taking place with Merlin Entertainment and the local council to create a flagship restaurant within Blackpool Tower.

Ramsdens Flagship Restaurant to Create 100 Jobs

In relocating all of their operations and staff to this larger venue within the world-famous Tower, the brand will be responsible for creating 100 new part-time and full-time roles as well as securing the positions of their 30-strong team within this new location.

Employment of Local Staff

With local tradesmen already carrying out the work to create the new premises for Ramsden’s, the commercial refrigeration facilities and seating areas are already well under way. The extensive work will eventually result in seating for 500 customers within three specialist outlets, with a total of 9,000 sq ft divided over the ground and fifth floor. And it is hoped that all three of these restaurants will be fully functional and open to the public by the summer, with one anticipated to be opened in the spring. One of the eateries set to open in the summer will also play host to the new Harry Ramsden’s concept, which is to be very family-based.

With Blackpool Council investing £400,000 into the project, they are keen to show potential developers that now is the time to start investing in Blackpool. Speaking about the latest development, the CEO of Harry Ramsden’s, Joe Teixeira, commented that they have been delighted to employ local people to help out with the project and within the diner.

Benefiting the Local Area

The Head of the Merlin Blackpool Cluster, Kate Shane, also added her thoughts about the benefits of this new restaurant. She explained that the restaurant is something that will enhance the overall experience that customers can enjoy, and it is perfectly in line with the attraction and what it has to offer the public. It will use many facilities from companies such as FFD Ltd. She also goes on to say that the development provides another element in creating the ultimate location for UK families.

Joe Teixeira also added that their commitment to the general public for 85 years is all part of their family-focused brand. By creating a memorable dining experience within Blackpool Tower, they hope it will enable locals to be continually proud of what the area has to offer.
